THE HERO’S JOURNEY
Heroes come in every shape and size, from grandparents and teachers to athletes, superheroes and community leaders. For centuries, composers have captured the heroic spirit in music; with this concert including Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, Verdi’s Nabucco Overture, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, “Eroica,” and John Williams’ Star Wars, we invite you to discover the hero in you!

This wacky, charming, absurd and moving piece (a Carnival of the Animals for our time) features fun creatures like the spider, shrimp, virus, owl and unicorn. Is a virus a creature? Ask your doctor! Is your teddy bear a creature? Ask your mommy!

In this original pantomime puppet show, the world of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition creates a magical forest where a giant and twin tricksters create fun and conflict. Through his friendship with a white rabbit, a young boy enters this tumultuous world and teaches others the power of listening.
