Ask a Musician: Summer Parks Edition
What makes NJSO parks concerts special? Associate Concertmaster Brennan Sweet answers in a parks edition of Ask a Musician.
The NJSO performs five free outdoor concerts this week, bringing a family-friendly “Road Trip Across the USA” program to Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park, Maxwell Place Park in Hoboken, Branch Brook Park in Newark, Mercer County Park in West Windsor and Marine Park in Red Bank.
Press praised the NJSO’s first two performances of the summer program. “The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Shines on a Stormy Night in Scotch Plains,” TapInto.net wrote of the Orchestra’s Friday concert “spanning the musical spectrum.”
On Sunday, Morristown Green wrote, “brilliant sunshine bathed a big crowd at the 34th annual Giralda Music & Arts Festival. They enjoyed show tunes and classical favorites from the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra–which added a surprise tribute to The Boss, Bruce Springsteen.”
Pack your gear and come along on a “Road Trip Across the USA,” NJSO-style. Travel from our New Jersey home with a medley of Bruce Springsteen hits through the heartland with John Williams’ moving score to Lincoln, to the Wild West and Copland’s iconic Rodeo, all the way to the Magic Kingdom with favorite music from Beauty and the Beast. It’s fun for the whole family on this memorable musical trip!
