Greenup Garth Greenup
Principal Trumpet
 

GARTH GREENUP attended Arizona State University and Northwestern University. His principal teachers include David Hickman (Arizona State University), Vince Chickowicz, Adolph Herseth (legendary principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony), and George Recker (professor of trumpet at the University of Oregon). Before joining the NJSO, he served as principal trumpet of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. In 1998 he won second prize in the prestigious Ellsworth Smith/International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition.

He has appeared as soloist with several ensembles, including the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (performing Molter’s second trumpet concerto on the 1998 Yuletide Classics concerts), the Utah Symphony, and the Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra (performing Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto no. 2).
