Brett Deubner

BRETT DEUBNER received his bachelors in violin and masters in viola from the Eastman School of Music where he studied with Zvi Zeitlin, Martha Katz, and John Graham. A recipient of the prestigious "Performer's Certificate in Viola",
he was a member of the Rochester Chamber Music Society as well as the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

Hailed for being "extremely sensitive and expressive" by Classical New Jersey, Mr. Deubner's career includes frequent solo recitals as well as chamber music collaborations throughout the United States. Founding violist of the acclaimed Elements Quartet, Mr. Deubner was formerly the violist of the Essex String Quartet. With the Elements, he has performed
at such festivals as Caramoor, Kent-Blossom, Norfolk and Rutgers-Summerfest and performed with members of the Chicago, Tokyo, Colorado, and Vermeer String Quartets.

Brett Deubner's other chamber music activities include being a member of the Apple Hill Chamber Players, violist of the Amadeus Virtuosi of New York, and a founding member of Trilogy: a New York-based flute, viola, harp trio. He is also Director of Chamber Music for Strings of the New Jersey Conservatory and violist of the N. J. C. Chamber Players.

Currently principal violist of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Deubner is a member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra where he was assistant principal violist from 1998-2000. He is principal violist and founding member of S.O.N.Y.C.(String Orchestra of New York City). Mr. Deubner has also been principal of the Heidelberg Festival Opera Orchestra as well as the Bachanalia Chamber Orchestra of New York and has played in the section of the London Symphony Orchestra.

A regular artist faculty member at such festivals as Summer Trios, the Manchester Music Festival in Vermont, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in New Hampshire as well as the American String Teachers Association, Mr. Deubner lives in Glen Ridge, New Jersey with his wife Susan, and their
three children: Graham, Chloe and Trevor.
