Experience the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra in the breathtaking Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in North Newark, near Branch Brook Park. The energetic young conductor Ryan McAdams leads the orchestra in a program that is sure to delight. And John Miller, the cathedral's Director of Music and an accomplished organist, will join the orchestra in the hauntingly beautiful Adagio for Organ and Strings by Tomaso Albinoni.

Dvorák’s Violin Concerto is powerfully engaging, full of Czech spirit and poetry. Alternating between whirling frenzy and serene beauty, it will transport you to Dvorák’s world of fantasy and drama. Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony is an icon of the grand Russian symphonic tradition.  With undulating melodies and lush harmonies, it’s an orchestral tour-de-force that will leave you exhilarated.

Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances will sweep you away to a peaceful world of magical sounds and exquisite melodies. Then, decide for yourself which Beethoven Overture you like best!  Though he finally was satisfied with the Fidelio Overture, it took Beethoven four tries to compose the overture for his only opera—a story filled with heroic idealism, political conflict, and personal sacrifice in the name of love.

Youthful exuberance takes center stage when the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra's 2007 Young Artists Auditions winner, Brittany Sklar, performs with the NJSO. The jovial Maestro Järvi conducts Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, a collection of children’s fairy tales brilliantly set to orchestra by a master musical storyteller. From whimsical reveries to humorous levity, Ravel captures the magical spirit of youth. The ballet music from Gounod’s Faust,
an epic tale of the quest for knowledge and happiness, will enchant you with its excitement and mystery.
