Chamber Orchestra Conductor, NJSO Youth Orchestras

HenryKao-Large.jpgHenry Kao, violist and violinist, has been a member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra since 1991. He held the positions of principal viola and principal second violin in the New York City Opera National Company, as well as principal viola in several Broadway shows. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed often in the New York/New Jersey metro area. Kao’s educational pursuits include being the founding conductor of the NJSO Youth Orchestras’ Chamber Orchestra, coaching chamber music and maintaining a private teaching studio. He obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Manhattan School of Music, studying with the legendary violinist Raphael Bronstein; he was awarded the Professional Diploma by Mannes College of Music, where he mentored with violist Sol Greitzer.
