2020 Winter Festival

Music Director Xian Zhang’s love of music from opera and ballet inspires three weeks of epic works from the stage!

Xian’s handpicked scenes and arias from Mozart’s Don Giovanni tell the opera’s complete story, featuring singers from the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. The music is in the spotlight for Wagner’s The Ring Without Words, arranged by Lorin Maazel, and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet provides crowdpleasing drama in this timeless story of star-crossed lovers.

Also in the spotlight are three amazing soloists—pianist Inon Barnatan performing Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto, NJSO Concertmaster Eric Wyrick performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4 and pianist Simon Trpčeski performing Lizst’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
