Sue On

New Jersey Symphony Youth Orchestra Repertory Orchestra Conductor

Sue On is a conductor, violinist, and educator. Sue is currently the Artistic Director of the Lakeland Youth Symphony and the conductor of the Symphony Orchestra, the Artistic Director and conductor of the Rowan Youth Orchestra and the Rowan Youth String Orchestra at Rowan University’s Community Music School, conductor of the Repertory Orchestra with the New Jersey Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the concertmaster of the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra.

Sue is a guest conductor and clinician across the tri-state area and was recently invited to conduct both the North Jersey School Music Association Region 1 Intermediate Orchestra, the South Jersey Band and Orchestra Region 3 Intermediate Orchestra, and was a guest teaching artist at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in Jerusalem where she had an opportunity to be a guest conductor with the Palestinian Youth Orchestra.

Sue studied conducting with the New York Grand Opera’s founder and esteemed Juilliard professor, Vincent La Selva, and jazz violin with Grammy award-winning violinist, Scott Tixier. She is also a board member of the NJ Chapter of American String Teachers Association and most recently joined the advisory board for the Denville Arts Council. When Sue isn’t teaching or performing you can find her jigsaw puzzling, perfecting her macaron recipes, or binge-watching the latest tv shows.
