Orchestra Chair Naming Program
Name a Musician’s Chair at the New Jersey Symphony
The musicians of the New Jersey Symphony bring extraordinary artistry to every performance. They come from across the nation and around the world to make their musical home here in New Jersey. They are not only artists—they are teachers, mentors, parents, grandparents, community leaders, and friends. They are the heart and soul of the Symphony. Their talent and dedication shape the Symphony’s signature sound and its impact statewide.
As part of our commitment to strengthen artistic excellence and expand community engagement, the New Jersey Symphony is proud to introduce a special opportunity for supporters: the chance to endow and name an orchestra chair and form a personal connection with the musicians who bring our music to life.
A Meaningful Investment in Artistic Excellence
Several chairs within the orchestra already bear the names of generous donors whose endowment support sustains the exceptional music-making we enjoy in concert halls and provides vibrant community programs across the state. Traditionally, orchestras limit named chairs to principal positions. We are taking a bold step forward by committing to name every chair in the orchestra, ensuring long-term artistic vitality and celebrating the exceptional musicians behind every note.
A Personal Connection to the Music
Naming a chair offers an inspiring way to champion the Symphony’s work while building a relationship with the musician whose position you support. Donors may enjoy unique opportunities such as access to closed rehearsals, pre- or post-concert gatherings, or small, music-focused gatherings that deepen their connection to the orchestra.
Recognition That Matters
This level of support reflects a meaningful partnership with one of New Jersey’s most valued cultural institutions. Chair endowments can be personalized with your name, family name, or company name. They also make a wonderful tribute or memorial to a loved one. In addition to advancing our artistic strength, your generosity inspires the musicians themselves—affirming the community’s commitment to its orchestra.
Opportunities to name a chair for three years or more begin at $150,000 and may be funded through a variety of giving vehicles, including multi-year commitments or planned gifts from your estate.
