Allison Loggins-Hull leads a New Jersey Symphony chamber program dedicated to home

July 21, 2025

Resident Artistic Partner Allison Loggins-Hull and the New Jersey Symphony Chamber Players performed a chamber program that was dedicated to the idea of home, featuring works like Hans Gál’s Huyton Suite, to patrons of Jersey City at the Nimbus Arts Center, which hosted the performance after excessive heat and thunderstorms forced it to be moved from Provost Square Plaza. Tris McCall of Jersey City Times was there to review the performance.

As getting-to-know-you basket of assortments from new neighbors go, the “After Hours” series has been a welcome one. NJSO is no stranger to Hudson County, but the Symphony is deeply associated with Newark and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. They don’t know us yet, and most of us don’t know them too well, either. It is a promising sign that the musical directors and have chosen to lead with challenging material like “Huyton”: it means that NJSO trusts our tastes.
