Fireworks and fanfare at the New Jersey Symphony’s performance at Branch Brook Park
The New Jersey Symphony made their annual summer appearance at Branch Brook Park, this year with Kyle Ritenauer conducting favorites from American composers like Aaron Copland, Duke Ellington, Valerie Coleman and John Williams before capping off the night with a massive fireworks display celebrating America’s 250th birthday. James C. Taylor of NJ Advance Media reviewed the performance.
July came early in Essex County this past weekend. The New Jersey Symphony set up a stage at Branch Brook Park Friday night, performing an Independence Day Concert in all but name. American flags were handed out, zeppole and sausages served from carts, John Philip Sousa marches performed—and it was all capped with a fireworks spectacular after the music.
