March 2 College Night draws more than 100 students

Mar 6, 2014

The NJSO’s second College Night of the 2013–14 season saw 111 students from colleges and universities across the state—and country—join the Orchestra at NJPAC in Newark on Sunday, March 2, for an afternoon of music and fun.

Groups came from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Drew University, Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts and William Paterson University. Students from Kean University and the Rutgers Business School in Newark also attended. Even visiting students ventured to NJPAC all the way from Chipola College in Florida and the University of Wisconsin!

The Drew University Madrigal Singers, directed by Ellis Hilton, treated concertgoers to a lovely pre-concert prelude. Rutgers’ student improv comedy troupe A 4 Effort provided sidesplitting entertainment at the post-concert all-student party.

The NJSO presents its third College Night of the season on Saturday, April 5, at the Orchestra’s performance of Verdi’s Requiem at the State Theatre in New Brunswick. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.njsymphony.org/college.
