KAGAN TO RECEIVE AWARD AT NJ CHAPTER’S ‘EXCELLENCE IN PHILANTHROPY’ AWARDS CELEBRATION ON MAY 14

NEWARK, NJ (May 1, 2013)—New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Vice President of Development Nicole Kagan has received the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser award from the New Jersey chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-NJ). Kagan will formally receive the award at the AFP-NJ’s “Excellence in Philanthropy” awards celebration luncheon on Tuesday, May 14, at the Pines Manor in Edison, New Jersey.

The AFP-NJ’s Robert J. Smythe Award for Outstanding Professional Fundraiser recognizes an individual “who brings honor, dedication and distinction to the profession,” according to the organization.

“The NJSO is pleased that Nicole’s colleagues in the fundraising world are recognizing her achievements with this award, and very pleased that the Orchestra is the current beneficiary of her talents, experiences and energy,” says NJSO Board of Trustees Co-Chair Ruth C. Lipper.

Kagan says: “It’s most heartwarming to receive awards from your colleagues in the field, who know the challenges and rewards of fundraising day in and day out, particularly in this challenging environment. In the bigger picture, this award is a great testament to the Orchestra and the entire organization, because you need a great product like our Orchestra to be able to raise funds, and there is nothing I do alone without a great team behind me.”
