The New Jersey Symphony and The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s upcoming collaboration of Romeo & Juliet is profiled by NJ.com

Dec 11, 2025

The New Jersey Symphony will be collaborating with The Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey for the first time in over a decade to present the beloved Shakespearean drama Romeo & Juliet, January 29–February 1 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark and the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank. Brian B. Crowe, the Artistic Director of The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, spoke to NJ.com to discuss the upcoming collaboration and what those attending the concerts can expect.

It's going to be a whole new experience ... where they'll see highlights from Shakespeare and, at some points, we’ll be actually working in concert — pun intended — with the Symphony, ... Staging an exciting street fight with rapiers flying and people rushing about the stage is always fun, but to do it underscored by the amazing New Jersey Symphony is a whole other level of experience.
