The New Jersey Symphony ‘deck the halls’ with their performance of Elf in Concert
Dec 10, 2025
The New Jersey Symphony had their first of two holiday weekend programs on December 6–7 with two performances of Elf in Concert at NJPAC in Newark and the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank with Conner Gray Covington conducting the performances. James C. Taylor of NJ Advance Media covered the Saturday afternoon performance at NJPAC.
... the New Jersey Symphony’s playing of Debney’s score — under the baton of conductor Connor Gray Covington — made it clear how central orchestral music is to the movie’s success. Debney’s score is never daring or experimental, but it deftly balances the film’s oddball mix of comedy, charm and holiday sentiment.
