The New Jersey Symphony gives an enchanting performance of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone™ in Concert

Mar 9, 2026

25 years after its release, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone™ got the limelight once more as Constantine Kitsopoulos conducted an NJPAC doubleheader of the first film of the iconic Harry Potter franchise with the New Jersey Symphony in Newark on March 7. James C. Taylor of NJ Advance Media reviewed the performance.

One of the reasons these live film performances are such a draw is that you can hear in the New Jersey Symphony’s playing just how much they believe in the music. Their top musicians show up and play a John Williams score with the same commitment and gusto as they did Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony the week before. Concertmaster Eric Wyrick was there on Saturday leading the string sections in the soaring “Harry’s Wondrous World” music.
