Video: When flower pots become instruments

Jan 8, 2014

In Tan Dun’s Earth Concerto, clay and ceramic pots become featured instruments. Guest percussionist David Cossin shares the unique experience of shopping for instruments at a garden store during a December trip to Metropolitan Plant and Flower Exchange in Fort Lee with fellow percussionists James Neglia and James Musto.

Cossin previously appeared with the NJSO in 2011—the first year of the Orchestra’s “Man & Nature” Winter Festival cycle—performing Tan Dun’s Water Concerto, in which water becomes an instrument.
