Media preview Dec 13 & 14 holiday pops concerts with Take 6
Center on the Aisle previews the NJSO's holiday concerts with 10-time Grammy winners Take 6 on December 13 at NJPAC in Newark and December 14 at the State Theatre in New Brunswick:
This weekend, 10-time Grammy Award-winning vocal group “Take 6” will bring their talents to the Garden State in concert with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra with a program title “A Take 6 Holiday with the NJSO,” first at NJPAC in Newark (December 13), followed by the State Theatre in New Brunswick (December 14).
The NJSO POPS series opener will feature the group and their patented fusion of R&B, gospel and pop on a program of Christmas favorites, including “Joy to the World” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.”
Provided by the NJSO’s press rep, ”The New York Times has praised Take 6’s ‘creamy vocal blends and gleaming gospel harmonies.’ Of the sextet’s celebrated Christmas performances, Smooth Jazz Ridewrites: ‘Take 6, one of the most competent and most recognizable groups to ever successfully compete with any instrument we could possibly associate with the contemporary jazz genre, adds this sparkling touch to the season and gives us reason to close our eyes for a gleeful moment and realize that there is much for which to be joyful.”
