Star-Ledger previews Feb 27 College Night

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra hosts a College Night later this month, with discount tickets, round-trip bus transportation from select local campuses and a post-show party with refreshments and live entertainment by student performers. On Feb. 27 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, guest conductor Johannes Debus leads a program including Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 "Scottish" and his "The Fair Melusine" Overture as well as Mozart's Flute and Harp Concerto with NJSO principal flute Bart Feller and Stacey Shames as the soloists. Audience members are invited to post live commentary online during the concert from specially designated "Tweet Seats." The concert begins at 8 p.m. at 1 Center St., Newark. Student tickets are $10, regular tickets are $20-$87. The program will be repeated (without special events) Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. at the Count Basie Theater, 99 Monmouth St., Red Bank and June 14 at 3 p.m. at NJPAC.
