Kathryn Stewart

Kathryn Stewart has been a substitute musician with the New Jersey Symphony since 2022, and has been Acting Section Bass since the 2025–26 season. Originally from Princeton, NJ, Katie began studying bass at the age of 8. In 2010, she joined the Juilliard Pre-College studying with Mr. Albert Laszlo, and continued with Mr. Laszlo in her undergraduate degree at the Juilliard School, graduating in 2018. She also began studying with David Moore in 2024. She attended the Aspen Music Festival in 2012 and 2013, Domaine Forget in 2014, and Music Academy of the West in 2015 and 2016. Starting in 2022, she has been a Teaching Artist with the El Sistema inspired youth program Trenton Music Makers. In addition to playing bass, she loves singing and bird watching.

She will serve as Acting Section Bass for the 2026–27 season while Section Bassist LonFon Law takes the role of Acting Principal Bass.
