Rosa Ortega Iannelli

Rosa Ortega Iannelli is a violist, educator and juggler from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Born to a family of artists, Rosa was enrolled in the Preparatory Program at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico at a young age; they later went on to study at the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University, earning their Bachelor’s degree under the tutelage of Dr. Ana Tsinadze and Kerri Ryan. Following their undergraduate studies, Rosa won a fellowship position with the Iris Orchestra, now known as the Iris Collective. They eventually moved to South Florida in 2021 after receiving a full tuition scholarship at Lynn Conservatory to pursue their graduate studies with Ralph Fielding and Sheila Browne; they graduated with their Masters in Music Performance and a Professional Performance Certificate in 2023 and 2025 respectively.

Rosa has performed with many major symphonies throughout South Florida, including the Palm Beach Symphony, Florida Grand Opera, South Florida Symphony Orchestra, Symphony of the Americas, Venice Symphony and they have subbed with the New World Symphony. In 2024, they were chosen for the highly competitive Orchestral Fellowship Program at Eastern Music Festival, and in 2025, they were a member of the National Repertory Orchestra, one of the nation's most prestigious orchestral training programs. An avid chamber musician, Rosa won 2nd place at the 2023 Lyric Chamber Music Competition, and 3rd Place in the 2023 American Virtuoso International Music Competition in the 20th & 21st Century category with the Aurora Quartet. As an educator, Rosa has taught strings with the Boca Sinfonia, Memphis Music Initiative, Play on Philly!, Philadelphia String Project, and has worked as a Teaching Fellow at the Interlochen Arts Camp.

Rosa enjoys exploring opportunities to make music outside of the classical canon; they have often collaborated with independent musicians in Puerto Rico and Philadelphia, exploring non-classical music in a variety of settings. In early 2024, Rosa toured as a member of the Philharmonic Orchestra Project with Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Bad Bunny on his Most Wanted North American Tour, in which they performed over 40 concerts across the country for over 700,000 people.
