Youngsun Kim.jpgA native of Korea, Youngsun Kim is an active orchestral and chamber musician. She has performed in venues such as Hoam Art Hall, Kumho Art Hall, Seongnam Arts Center, Seoul Arts Center, Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and David Geffen Hall. As an avid chamber musician, Ms. Kim has given performances in Connecticut and New Jersey, and has performed at various chamber music festivals including Kneisel Hall and Norfolk Music Festival. Before joining the New Jersey Symphony in 2023, she was part of the first violin section at the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ms. Kim received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Manhattan School of Music with the dissertation “The Solo Violin Caprice: A Survey of its Evolution from the Eighteenth Century to the Present.” Prior to her doctoral studies, Ms. Kim graduated Summa Cum Laude from Seoul National University and holds her Master’s degree and Artist Diploma from Yale University. As an educator she has numerous talented students in New Jersey/New York area.

Ms. Kim’s primary studies were under Sylvia Rosenberg, Hyo Kang, Youngmi Cho and members of the Tokyo String Quartet.
