Gavin Davies
Training Ensemble & Repertory Violin Teaching Artist
Gavin Davies is a versatile violinist who is equally as passionate about classical music as he is about various other genres including folk, pop, and jazz. He has many years of experience playing weddings and private events in addition to playing chamber and orchestral music. For many years he played violin in the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra (NJIO) and served as one of its conductors. In addition to playing the violin, Davies is also a professional drummer. He earned a bachelor's degree in jazz studies from the University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL) and later earned his New Jersey teaching certificate from Jersey City State College. Davies taught instrumental and general music in the Bayonne School District for 24 years and is now retired from public school teaching.
