Training Ensemble Teaching Artist (Bass)

Jon Paul (JP) Bernabe is a New Jersey-based musician that regularly freelances and teaches in the New York metropolitan area. He has been fortunate enough to share the stage with the top names in music, such as the Kronos Quartet, the Cavani Quartet, Juilia Bullock, David Krakauer and Vijay Gupta. Prestigious venues that he has performed in include Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall.

With a passion for chamber music, JP has participated in festivals such as the Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Bang On A Can Summer Music Festival. He is also a proud member of the newly formed group, underStaffed - a collective of musicians dedicated to sharing classical music to those who might not be as familiar with the genre.

As a skilled educator, JP holds a private teaching studio in the area and is a Teaching Artist with the New Jersey Symphony Youth Orchestra. JP is currently a student at the Cali School of Music at Montclair State University, pursuing his Bachelors of Music in Double Bass Performance under the tutelage of Jeremy McCoy. JP casually engages with other genres of music, such as jazz, pop and R&B. Outside of music, JP enjoys cooking, watching films and reading.
