CONCERT CODA

PRESS REVIEWS AND FEATURES

“Chorus, soloists, orchestra, conductor and chorus master all received a spontaneous, well-deserved standing ovation, generating plenty of audience energy in exchange for the powerful evening’s performance.”
Review: Examiner.com—Mar 24, 2013

“Taut, purposeful strings in the ‘Rex tremendae’ contrasted a wonderfully delicate ‘Salva me’ from the chorus. The musicians brought ample energy and then ethereal tone to the ‘Confutatis.’”
Review: The Star-Ledger—Mar 23, 2013

“Conductor Jacques Lacombe and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s concert series at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in downtown Newark remain an undiscovered treasure for New York's classical music lovers.”
Review: Superconductor Classical and Opera—Mar 22, 2013

MUSICIAN INSIGHT

Steve_Fang_Concert_Coda.jpg“All of the music we perform, especially something so powerfully moving and profound like the Mozart Requiem, affects audience members in different, personal ways. I’m sure there’s an entire range of emotions [that the Requiem inspired in the audience]—that’s the point. We [musicians] put a great deal of emotional and physical energy into the performances. I personally find the Lacrimosa a really special moment in the piece.

“I think there’s something important about playing with local ensemble [like the Montclair State University Chorale], especially college students. We [are able to] recognize the choir for its hard work and talent, and the students get to sing a major work with a professional orchestra throughout state—there is a real artistic synergy.
