Volunteers needed!

Mar 12, 2018

The NJSO is looking for volunteers to serve as after-concert guides for our Thursday matinee programs. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, we proudly provide luxury bus transportation from senior residences all over the state to our Thursday matinee concerts at NJPAC. After each concert, our senior guests must be gathered and escorted back to their bus for their trip home. We’re looking for 10–15 volunteers who can help with this important job.

WHEN: Thursday matinee concerts on March 15, May 17 and June 7

WHERE: NJPAC in Newark

WHAT TIME: The concerts start at 1:30 pm; bus duty typically starts at 3:15 and can take up to 45 minutes (variations exists for exact concert timing).

WHAT’S REQUIRED:

Volunteers must:

  • Report to the lobby before the concert’s conclusion and stay through the departure of the last bus, which can be 45 minutes after the concert ends. (Volunteers can attend the concert before bus duty begins.)
  • Be able to stand in the lobby for up to 45 minutes, while chatting with the gathering concertgoers.
  • Walk a group safely and at an appropriate pace to their correct bus. On-site bus managers will direct this process.
  • Confirm the right number of passengers have reported to the bus and, if necessary, assist in locating missing passengers (a very rare occasion!).

We will provide up to two concert tickets and pay for parking for each volunteer at each concert.
