Cone Institute Chronicles: 2015 recap

July 22, 2015

At last week’s NJSO Edward T. Cone Composition Institute, four emerging composers—Luke Carlson, Brendan Faegre, Shuying Li and Reinaldo Moya—enjoyed an immersive experience with the NJSO that culminated in a live performance of their works on July 16 at the Richardson Auditorium in Princeton.

Institute Director Steven Mackey led individual and group masterclasses for the composers; guest conductor JoAnn Falletta led the NJSO in rehersals and the concert performance of the participants' works. The four composers also attended feedback sessions with NJSO musicians to discuss the practicalities of their works, and they had sessions in New York City with industry leaders including Boosey & Hawkes, New Music USA and WQXR's Q2 Music.
