Zachary Marzulli

A New Jersey native, bassist Zachary Marzulli is excited to be joining the New Jersey Symphony as Acting Assistant Principal Bass for the 2025-26 season. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Juilliard School where he studied with Timothy Cobb and Eugene Levinson. He continued his training at the Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles where he studied with Peter Lloyd.

During his student years, he performed as a substitute musician with the Atlanta Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the New World Symphony in Miami Beach. He has participated in various music festivals such as the New York String Orchestra Seminar, the Spoleto Festival USA and spent two summers at the Music Academy of the West and Lucerne Festival Academy. He has toured Europe with Juilliard Orchestra and the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra, performing at venues such as BBC Proms and the Köln Philharmonie. Passionate about chamber music and teaching, Zachary has performed in Juilliard’s Chamberfest and has taught students through Colburn’s Jumpstart teaching program.

Originally from Montclair, New Jersey, Zachary’s journey with the bass began in his middle school’s orchestra program. He attributes his interest in pursuing a career as a musician to having a well funded public school music education program.

He will serve as the Acting Assistant Principal Bass for the 2025–26 season while Assistant Prinicpal Bass Alexander Bickard is on leave.
